چکیده
Pte. P. F. J., aged 42, was admitted to the Crerard Freeman Thomas War Hospital, Bombay, on 22nd June, 1917, with a discharging sinus in the right loin. He stated that since December 1916 he had been troubled with debility and increasing weakness, but had no colic or pains in the loin; this had developed insidiously. It proved to be an abscess, which was opened and drained, the wound soon healing. Pus, however, re-collected, and the abscess was again opened. On this occasion the wound did not completely heal, a small sinus persisting. Up to this time, apparently, kidney disease was not suspected. Acute renal colic: An imaging update
Renal colic is a common cause of severe acute abdominal pain in clinical practice. Classical symptoms include acute frank pain radiating to the groin, nausea and vomiting. There is often laboratory evidence of haematuria. Men are more often affected than women and the incidence increases with age. Acute renal colic is usually due to renal or ureteric stones. Most stones measuring 5mm or less in...
متن کاملA Giant Case of Pyonephrosis Resulting from Nephrolithiasis
Pyonephrosis is an uncommon disease that is associated with suppurative destruction of the renal parenchyma in adults. Upper urinary tract infection and obstruction play a role in its etiology. Immunosuppression from medications (steroids), diseases (diabetes mellitus, AIDS), and anatomic variations (pelvic kidney, horseshoe kidney) may also be risk factors for pyonephrosis. Fever, shivering, a...
متن کاملSpontaneous intraperitoneal rupture of pyonephrosis in a patient with unknown kidney carcinosarcoma: a case report
Seventeen cases of peritonitis due to rupture of a pyonephrosis have been reported. The majority of these cases occur secondary to renal stones. Only two cases of ruptured pyonephrosis with concurrent kidney neoplasm have been described and only one of these presented as an acute peritonitis. In this presentation we discuss an unusual case of a 68 year old man with a chronic history of bilatera...

A fistula between the urinary tract and the lung is a rare occurrence. In 1949 Abeshouse reviewed the world literature and reported that among the abnormal connections between the kidney and other organs, nephropulmonary fistulae were second in incidence to renocolic communications.1 We have found 70 published cases of nephrobronchocutaneous fistula but, only nine of these were after 1949, sugg...
